Welcome to River's Edge, our charming new home community bordering the Eno River State Park. For over a century, this land has been a local treasure, known for many years as the King Farm, while owned by Durham County Commissioner and active citizen, W. Ed King. For 40 years of Mr. King's tenure, 1887-1927, the land was the site of the "Old Pump Station," which supplied water from the Eno River throughout the city of Durham. In those days, our locale served as a recreational center for the people of Durham, particularly as a starting and ending point for hayrides and rides on "Helen Blazes," a little motor boat for public use owned by the water company.
Although the land no longer houses the "Old Pump Station," it is no less treasured today than in those days of old. As the setting for our cul-de-sac neighborhood, River's Edge consists of 49 lovely homesites on quiet streets lined with trees and sidewalks. Once again, kids of all ages are discovering this special place as a haven for recreation as they embark upon an evening stroll or bike ride, enjoy time with neighbors, or relax in the tranquility of nature in the 16 acres dedicated as River's Edge Open Space or the adjacent Eno River State Park. Indoors, families and friends are reminded of the joys of spending time together, in exceptional custom homes crafted by the area's finest builders.
River's Edge is conveniently located in Durham, off Rose of Sharon Road. Highway 70 and Interstates 40 and 85 are but moments from the neighborhood, as are Research Triangle Park, Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Excellent public schools, shopping, restaurants, country clubs, and employment centers are all within minutes. In fact, Riverside High School is within walking distance of the neighborhood. While tucked away in a nature preserve, River's Edge enjoys the distinction of a fabulous location.
We extend to you a sincere welcome to River's Edge. We welcome you to our neighborhood with a storied past and an exciting future. We welcome you to this charming place we believe you will be proud to call home.
